ECONOMIC COUNCIL TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE RM
3 February, 2021 – The Secretariat of the Economic Council launched, at a meeting of the platform, the call to the members of the Council to collect additional proposals for the Roadmap for boosting the process of digitization of the national economy and development of electronic commerce.
Currently the document contains 37 topics and they relate to the remote interaction of business with the authorities, the implementation of digital services and e-commerce, the simplification of customs procedures for online export, courier and electronic payment services.
During the debates, the experts of the Secretariat of the Economic Council mentioned that at the moment the first draft of amendments of about 30 legislative acts for the implementation of several actions of the Roadmap, is at the State Chancellery for promotion.
In the meantime, at the request of the Secretariat of the Economic Council, a number of international organizations are participating in the expertise of the solutions for topics in the Roadmap to finalize the second package of actions.
Thus, in January 2021, the experts contracted by the EBRD presented a study with solutions for electronic commerce and the development of electronic payments. At the same time, the German GIZ Economic Team hired an expert to develop solutions for eKYC, which would allow companies to open remote bank accounts in Moldova. And experts from USAID Moldova are working on a study that will come with research that will show the costs for opening and maintaining an online store and other issues related to e-commerce.
The Secretariat of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, funded by the UK Government’s Good Governance Fund, and the International Finance Corporation’s Investment Climate Reform Project funded by the Government of Sweden’s International Development Agency.
