The entrepreneur will no longer have to physically interact with the customs and postal agent when exporting his goods

The Customs Service and the Moldovan Post Office have made the process of exporting goods worth up to €1000 as simple as possible. The entrepreneur no longer has to go through the cumbersome procedure of submitting the CN 23 customs declaration.

According to Vitalie Stratan, Head of the Customs Control Section of the Customs Service, in most cases the entrepreneur, not knowing how to fill in this document, turns to the customs broker for a fee. He would fill in the declaration, take it to the Moldovan Post Office, where he had to get it approved. After that the entrepreneur had to present the parcel he intended to export to the post office. This was checked by the post office operator and the customs worker. The customs declaration was then stamped and the product was allowed to be exported. This whole procedure not only took time but also required additional expenditure on the part of the businessman.

Now, after the simplification of the procedure, the economic agent, ex officio, without the need for a broker, opens an application, fills in the data in the customs declaration CN 23 and sends it electronically to the post office. The post office automatically, when it receives it, checks certain data and sends it to customs, customs at the same time checks and sends back the information that it is ok, the parcel can be picked up by the Moldovan Post Office and sent to its destination anywhere in the world, Vitalie Stratan adds.

Digitised and automated export via international postal consignments is possible following the implementation of the project to modernise the Customs Service’s information systems. The financial support of about €1 million for the implementation of this project, at the request of the Secretariat of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, was allocated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
