The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has told the business community about the reform of the Labour Inspectorate

The State Labour Inspectorate is in the process of reform. This was announced by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Corina Ajder at the meeting of the Working Group ,,Rеduсеrеa of informal oсupationе and fеnomеnе ,,wages in pliс” of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister of RM.

The ministry representative claims that the reform of this institution is absolutely necessary, including in the context that out of 200,000 complaints about violations of employees’ rights, the Labour Inspectorate found only 80 contraventions in 2022. The Secretary of State also mentioned that the inspectors of the reorganized institution will take an objective approach in the process of carrying out controls in relation to the economic agent and that only controls related to the aspects of informal work will be carried out.   In this context Corina Ajder wanted to inform the business community about the start in October 2023 of the inspection of 500 enterprises with potential risk of non-compliant employment. Representatives of the business community present at the meeting welcomed the Ministry’s openness in the context of maintaining a dialogue on the start of the inspections.

At the same time, a request was made for a further meeting to discuss the criteria on which inspections will be carried out so that business operators can eliminate potential misconduct. At the same meeting, the experts of the Secretariat of the Economic Council mentioned that the working group for the stimulation of the labour market, whose secretariat is provided by the Secretariat of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, is currently working on legislative amendments to improve employer-employee relations, which will be debated on the Council platform.
