Moldova’s implementation rate of the World Trade Organization Agreement on Trade Facilitation exceeds the global rate
On June, 26-27, 2023, in Geneva, on behalf of the Republic of Moldova, during the panel presentations at the high-level segment at the Steering Committee on Trade Capacity and Standards at UNECE (Removing regulatory and procedural barriers to trade in the Economic Commission for Europe region – Republic of Moldova review), as well as during the session on Capacity-building and technical assistance activities, the expert of the EC Secretariat addressed a statement that Moldova continues to remain firmly rooted on its European integration path which drives all the reforms in our country. She highlighted that Moldova has made significant progress in fostering innovative activity and strengthening digital economy policy, as well the implementation of the circular economy principles in the country during recent years. The most important achievements and measures registered by Moldova during the last years, specially related to trade facilitation and green transition have been also mentioned. The expert also expressed Moldova’s strong ambition to continue working together with UNECE to encourage trade facilitation, innovation-driven growth, digital economic development as well as circularity in line with Agenda 2030 and the SDGs. It has been mentioned that further support would be valuable building upon the existent work which has already been done, as well as other potential areas for further collaboration. Moldova is committed to work with UNECE to ensure the continuity of the work which has been done and ready to examine new projects including those assessing or addressing the challenges related to the implementation of circular economy concepts.
