Secretaries of State coordinate their actions in the field of sustainable development and green transition

Secretaries of state from several ministries will coordinate their actions in the field of sustainable development and green transition.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment, Petru Tataru, welcomed the meeting of the Working Group held on the platform of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova. Horizontal communication between ministries will contribute greatly to the Programme for the Promotion of the Green Economy which is being developed by the Ministry of Environment.

Among the issues requiring effective coordination between ministries are the current assessment of the green economy in the country and the identification of gaps and opportunities for its development. Another topic concerns the presentation and coordination of policies and efforts of ministries in ensuring coherence and synergy in the field. Special attention will be given to developing a work plan and agreeing on a communication mechanism on this topic.

According to Veronica Arpintin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitisation, this Working Group will help to promote investment in green technologies and infrastructure and facilitate technology transfer in this area. Support will be provided to identify financial support mechanisms and resources available to support green economy projects and initiatives. Clear performance indicators and targets will be established to measure progress in the implementation of policies and initiatives in the field.

As part of the consultation process on the Green Economy Programme Plan, each ministry will come forward by the end of June 3023 with concrete actions to be included in the document.
