ECONOMIC COUNCIL TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE RM
The Prime Minister requests the assistance of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the creation of the Office of the Entrepreneurs’ Ombudsman.
This entity will be responsible for providing support in solving cases of violation of entrepreneurs’ rights by state institutions; it will monitor and analyse the regulatory framework and practices that contribute to the violation of entrepreneurs’ rights; it will put forward proposals for measures and legislative amendments to reduce the number of such violations.
The need for the creation of the Office of the Entrepreneurs’ Ombudsman in Moldova arises from the shortcomings in ensuring the rule of law, respect and implementation of the provisions of the adopted reforms, as well as respect for the rights of economic agents and abuses by law enforcement and control bodies.
It should be noted that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development specialises in implementing such solutions, the most eloquent example being the Office of the Business Ombudsman in Ukraine.
The Secretariat of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, funded by the UK Government’s Good Governance Fund, and the International Finance Corporation’s Investment Climate Reform Project funded by the Government of Sweden’s International Development Agency.
