ECONOMIC COUNCIL TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE RM
Improving the regulatory framework for industrial parks is one of the issues that the TRACOM administration would like to address in the Economic Council’s platform, as soon as the Association of Industrial Parks of Moldova (APPIM) becomes a member of the Council. This was announced at the meeting of the two entities by the acting Director General of IP “TRACOM” Aurelia Salicov, who is the president of APPIM.
Today more than 70 companies are working at “TRACOM”, said Aurelia Salicov, which employs more than 2000 people. In order to attract investment and improve the business environment, all parties involved are required to comply with the legal provisions regarding the current facilities, as well as to amend the law on industrial parks by requiring new facilities for residents, Aurelia Salicov added. In addition to these changes, other provisions of the regulatory framework that would help entrepreneurs need to be adjusted, APPIM representatives said.
For his part, the head of the Secretariat of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Ion Lupan said that APPIM is already on the list of applications for membership to be submitted to the Chief Executive for approval.
During the visit to “TRACOM”, the team of the Secretariat of the Economic Council had several meetings with the residents of the Park in order to exchange views on the challenges they face in carrying out their activities and the successes they have achieved. During these discussions the Economic Council experts reported that the Secretariat has started a process of coordinating and implementing actions to reform the regulatory framework for business activity, which includes drafting legislative amendments to remove constraints in business activity, requested by the business and urged “TRACOM” residents to actively participate by submitting proposals for improving the regulatory framework.
At the end of the discussions, the parties agreed to work together on a broad spectrum of actions including issues related to promoting the application of women’s economic empowerment principles among Moldovan companies.
