ECONOMIC COUNCIL TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE RM
May 6, 2025 – The Association of Agricultural Producers AGRO OGUZ, the Association of Farmers’ Strength, and the Union of Small Wine Producers of Moldova have joined the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, following a decision issued by the Prime Minister on April 30, 2025.
With the inclusion of these new organizations, the Economic Council now has 148 members. These include 71 business associations, 12 representatives of the research community, 16 international organizations active in business environment reform, and 49 representatives of public authorities and institutions. In 2024 alone, with the support and expertise of the Economic Council, 80 issues raised by platform members were addressed. Among them were deregulation packages that brought annual savings of approximately one billion MDL for the business community.
These legislative changes targeted the reduction of bureaucracy and simplification of administrative procedures. The year 2025 began with the approval of the Economic Council’s digital economy package, which includes regulating the activity of digital nomads, promoting the use of virtual cash registers and electronic receipts (eBon), enabling integration with international payment platforms such as Stripe, PayPal, and Revolut, and allowing rural entrepreneurs to provide cash withdrawal services of up to 1,000 MDL directly from POS terminals.
Established in the early 1990s, the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova is a consultative platform that brings together representatives from both the public and private sectors to address challenges faced by the business environment. The Council provides recommendations to the Government and facilitates the implementation of measures aimed at improving the economic climate, particularly in areas such as deregulation, digitalization, and support for key sectors.
Since 2013, the Secretariat of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, funded by the UK Government’s Good Governance Fund.
