March 3, 2025 – Within the Economic Council to the Prime Minister, the meeting of Working Group 1 “Elimination of Constraints in Entrepreneurial Activity” took place, organized in collaboration with the National Food Safety Agency. The working group is led by the American Chamber of Commerce.

The main goal of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation and identify effective solutions for optimizing the food product import and placement process in the Republic of Moldova. Discussions focused on clarifying applicable requirements and procedures, facilitating compliance for economic operators, and improving predictability in the relationship with the control authority. An important topic addressed was the labeling of imported products, emphasizing the necessity for it to be applied to products in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova.

Present at the event, Vasile Șarban, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, emphasized that labeling is important for informing the buyer and ensuring transparency in the market. He stressed that the correct application of labels on imported products contributes to consumer protection and compliance with food safety standards.

Additionally, aspects related to the coordination of sanitary-veterinary certificates for cattle and sheep with other states were discussed, as well as the additional costs generated by analyses on some imported food products, conducted for all importers. Radu Musteața, General Director of ANSA, emphasized that the implementation of these measures is essential to ensure compliance with health standards. He highlighted that all these initiatives aim to improve the traceability of food products.
