Moldovan Businesses to Gain Easier Access to Stripe, PayPal, and Revolut: Government Removes Barriers to International Payments and eCommerce

On Tuesday, 29 April 2025 the Government of the Republic of Moldova approved new regulations aimed at helping local businesses connect more easily with international payment platforms such as Stripe, PayPal, Revolut, and others.

The measure supports entrepreneurs operating in the digital space by offering simplified and faster access to modern tools for receiving payments from abroad, as well as more flexible rules for repatriating foreign currency amounts of up to 100,000 lei—a change that will ease the administrative burden on exporters and freelancers while reducing the risk of penalties.

These actions are part of the Roadmap for Economic Digitalization, developed with the support of the Economic Council, ATIC, and funded by GIZ.

They directly contribute to modernizing the entrepreneurial ecosystem and strengthening Moldova’s integration into the global digital economy. The reforms were promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.
