Carolina Bugaian, the president of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs, will serve as interim president of the Council for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality.

29 January 2025 – The decision was made today, with the vote of the majority present, during the meeting of the National Council for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality. Previously, the leadership of the Council was ensured by the state secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, Veronica Arpintin. During today’s meeting of the National Council for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality, the progress of the implementation of the Roadmap for Economic Empowerment was presented. According to the gender expert of the Economic Council Secretariat, Cristina Tiscul, the document is 75% completed or in progress. During the discussions, new topics were proposed for the Roadmap for economic empowerment and gender equality. Irina Revin, president of the Association of Entrepreneurs with Disabilities, proposed completing the Roadmap with a new component dedicated to the economic empowerment of women with disabilities and mothers who have children with disabilities. This initiative aims to create equal opportunities for all women, regardless of the challenges they face. Another proposal concerns the creation of public-private partnerships in the field of promoting gender equality. This measure would facilitate the active involvement of the private sector in initiatives that contribute to reducing inequalities and increasing economic opportunities for women. Lilia Franț, vice-president of CNSM, stressed the importance of ensuring a favorable climate for employees, where rights are respected and decent working conditions are guaranteed. In this regard, policies are needed to encourage work-life balance, as well as concrete measures for the protection of employees. Representatives of the Rezonans Association from Transnistria highlighted the need to carry out joint projects on both banks of the Dniester, to consolidate cooperation and extend the positive impact of economic empowerment initiatives. Another proposal came from Ludmila Andronic, who supported the introduction of a tax facility for employers in the form of a voucher for grandparents. Thus, grandparents who care for grandchildren could receive financial support from the state. This would represent an alternative measure to stimulate the return of mothers to the labor market, offering them an additional solution for childcare. The Economic Council Secretariat will systematize all proposals to include them in the Roadmap.
