ECONOMIC COUNCIL TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE RM
The National Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality Council has been officially launched
Launching the Council was attended by the Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, who stressed that the government’s goal is for every Moldovan woman to have the opportunities and resources to develop her own business. The newly created dialogue platform – the National Council for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality – will provide the necessary expertise for the government to improve its policies and for Moldova to become the most business-friendly country in the region,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
During the event, the Roadmap for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality was presented. It represents an annual plan of the Council’s activities and has been built around 3 pillars, following the collected proposals of the EC members. The first is – Human Capital and Culture and includes 3 main priorities: access to lifelong entrepreneurship and financial education; training and mentoring programmes on ESG implementation and reporting; and increasing the Global Happiness Index.
The second pillar concerns access to markets and finance and includes 4 measures: popularising government support measures for employers and employees; promoting the country’s image to attract investors; Implementing programmes with the financial sector related to access to finance for women entrepreneurs; strengthening the knowledge and skills of women entrepreneurs in using e-commerce platforms to expand their business exports and participate in local, regional and global supply chains.
The third pillar of the roadmap is about sustainable policy development and includes 4 priorities: gender equality legislative agenda; Implementation of a study “Mapping female entrepreneurship in the RM”; training and awareness-raising of employers on gender equality; promotion of equal pay in the public and private sectors. The members of the National Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality Council strongly believe that proper implementation of the Roadmap will foster sustainable and inclusive development in Moldova, aligning with its European aspirations.
The National Council for Economic Empowerment and Gender Equality will operate on the platform of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of Moldova. The first working meeting of the Council is scheduled for July 2024.
