The draft concept and plan for the implementation of the anti-bribery standard in public institutions is subject to public discussion

July 9, 2021 – The ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Standard may be enacted by approximately 40 regulatory approving authorities. The concept and action plan in this regard were developed by the UNDP expert in Moldova at the request of the Secretariat of the Economic Council, which also serves as the Secretariat of the Government Working Group on the implementation of the anti-bribery standard.

The documents were discussed with the participation of representatives of a number of government agencies and members of the Economic Council. In order to obtain ISO 37001 certification (a document confirming that an institution has implemented an anti-bribery standard), an organization must demonstrate that it meets a number of requirements. These include the establishment of internal policies and rules in the organization related to interactions with beneficiaries (economic agents and citizens), recruiting, gifts, conviction and treatment with undue influence by employees, preventing attempts to involve employees in corruption, etc.

To implement these requirements, a concept and accompanying documents were developed, which, after completion, can be implemented in institutions with the functions of control and issuance of permits in Moldova.

The documents discussed should be complemented by proposals from government agencies that should implement the ISO 37001 standard, as well as other interested parties. At the end of September, the Concept and Action Plan for the implementation of the ISO 37001 standard will be submitted to the Government for approval.
