10 November 2019 – At the request of the Prime Minister, the experts of the Secretariat of the Economic Council in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure drafted a note on the impact of the draft amendments, which proposed the liberalization of universal postal services in two stages, for the correspondence within the limits of 350 and 100 grams and less than 100 grams.

The experts found that the draft law for amending the Law on postal communications no.36/2016 should not have a negative impact on the postal services tariffs. Nevertheless, the experts concluded that other legal provisions, that are in force since 2016 and are in the process of enactment, related to the setting of tariffs based on costs and which are to be approved by ANRCETI, would have an impact on the tariffs for postal services, but an insignificant one.

The Government approved the legal amendments on 10 November 2019.
