By-products of animal origin and derived by-products, which are not intended for human consumption

19 September 2019 – On 19 September 2019, the Parliament approved the law no. 129 on by-products of animal origin and derived by-products, not intended for human consumption. This document was expected by the business environment, as it clearly establishes the procedures for the management of this type of waste, including their incineration, which has so far been impossible in Moldova.

The issue had been discussed on the platform of the Economic Council in May 2017, following a request addressed to the Prime Minister by the European Business Association. The business community discussed the need to ensure a civilized way of disposing of animal waste, which would not harm the environment and human health. After finalizing the draft law, the experts of the Secretariat of the Economic Council, during 2019, monitored the process of promoting the document in the Parliament.

The complex management of animal waste is an important component of the export launch process for Moldova, as it is part of the production chain.
