The Prime Minister changed the membership of the Economic Council

Prime Minister Dorin Recean today signed a provision amending the membership of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister. The number of members of the platform is now 142, up from 118.

Thus, the Economic Council includes 68 business associations (+12), 11 representatives of the research community (+3) and 14 international organisations (+3) active in the field of business environment reforms, 49 public authorities and institutions (+6).

Among the new members of the Economic Council are the Employers’ Federation of Builders, Road Builders and Manufacturers of Construction Materials, the Association of Electronic Industry Companies of Moldova, the Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies, the Association of Dentists of the Republic of Moldova, the Startup Moldova Foundation, Association of Oil Companies, Administration of the Information Technology Park “Moldova IT Park”, Employers’ Association of Industrial Parks of Moldova, Association of Value Chain Alliance in the Republic of Moldova, Association of Business Service Leaders, Association of Business and Management Consultants of the Republic of Moldova.

Other members of the Economic Council are the Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Moldova, the International Organization for the Development of Law, the United Nations in Moldova, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Policy, the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova.

The Economic Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova is a platform for debate through which the problems faced by the business community are brought to the attention of the Government. Members of the platform debate systemic issues that they face and for which no consensus has been found in other formats. Both those who have raised the issue and representatives of the state institutions responsible for implementing the solutions participate in identifying solutions.

The Economic Council was created in 2011 as an advisory body to the Executive. Since June 2016, the platform has also exercised the functions of the National Committee for Trade Facilitation, and since August 2019 of the Advisory Council of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.
